Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she quit high school in order to relocate in Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. The actress landed her first part in the film, Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001 despite struggling with finances. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she was the main cast member for the first two seasons winning an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace quit the show in 2005 to pursue a more significant role in film, appearing alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
